The kids and I made cookies all morning for Valentines. They are some very soft sugar cookies, thanks to my friend, Nicole. I never knew adding sour cream could make sugar cookies so soft. Anyway, the dough was delicious and so was the icing. James chose blue for the icing so we had a lot of blue and white hearts of all sizes. From watching "19 Kids and Counting" James wanted to take cookies to the firefighters and police so we delivered them in the afternoon. He had seen the kids of the Duggar family do that so he wanted to as well. He was pretty shy when we went to deliver them, but it was a great experience. The funniest thing was going to the police station. We walked to the counter that's covered with glass and there was a long line of people there for court or paying fines, etc. The lady at the desk looked quite unhappy, but as soon as we told her we were just there to bring cookies to the police, she grinned so big and sent an officer out to give the kids a couple sticker badges too. It was nice to brighten their day.
It worked out nicely to have Family Home Evening on Valentines Day. TJ and I took lunch time to go eat together at Cowboy Chicken while Gran Gran watched the kiddos. My, that new restuarant is delicious. Definitely our new favorite. So, we still had some time for just the two of us and then had a great night together as a family.
Grammy, Gran Gran & Paw joined us as well. Gran Gran helped us ice more cookies that James and Daddy took across the street to our neighbors, the Barkley family. We've been using the nursery manual for our lessons as we take turns. It just happened that our next one was about loving one another. What a coincidence! James chose Candy-Heart Bingo for our activity and we all had fun playing. Of course, everyone wins because everyone gets to eat their candy hearts at the end.
